BBC - Stornoway - BBC Glastonbury Festival - 2011
16:00 – 19:00 // In the studio next is Marc Riley
Wed 22nd June – Sun 26th June 2011
Worthy Farm, Pilton
In May 2009, Stornoway headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend. Their performance was so special that six months later, they became the first unsigned band ever to perform on Later... with Jools Holland (alongside the Foo Fighters, Sting and Norah Jones, no less!).
Don't be fooled by the name. Stornoway hail from the streets of Cowley, Oxford (as namechecked in their biggest single to date, Zorbing). But if you're looking for the sounds of suburbia, look elsewhere. Their debut album, Beachcomber's Windowsill is a harmonious collection of wistful, dreamy pastoral folk that will tug at your heart strings and have you yearning for breezy walks in the hills.
