Primary Colours marked a significant turnaround in the affections for Southend's The Horrors. Influences of Can, Neu! and My Bloody Valentine shone through, and before they knew it, the band where favourites for a Mercury Prize, with what many still refer to as the best album of 2009.
Speech Debelle waltzed away the award that night but The Horrors have returned with third album Skying, set for a July release.
