Well, in Metronomy’s case, you should go and see them live to discover what a ridiculous curse the website can be; not only are they a hundred times better during their live set than the tinny sounds online, but their actual performance is their real selling point. A brilliant slice of fun for anyone into electro-disco, the eccentric trio delivered 45 minutes of pure oddball club rave. Donning trademark flashing beacons attached to their T-shirts, they pulled off co-ordinated Jarvis Cocker-esque moves and gained audience participation in what can only be described as some kind of ape-mating call – "ooh ak ak" - masquerading as lyrics. Indeed, the stand-out tune and sinister fairground anthem, My Mum’s Mates, will only encourage you to attempt the cool shapes being thrown around the stage when you get home! They certainly did prove to be an unknown pleasure, and with the likes of Keifer Sutherland showing up to a recent London gig, it surely proves that if you only have 24 hours to save the world, you should spare five minutes to have a dance with Metronomy. last updated: 11/07/07 You are in: Manchester > Entertainment > Music > Reviews > Metronomy at Academy 3 [an error occurred while processing this directive] [an error occurred while processing this directive] [an error occurred while processing this directive] |
