 | | Simon Webbe in the video for Ride The Storm |
Released as a double A side with the title track from his latest album, Grace, the track is taken from the new blockbuster, Fantastic 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. Simon was a big fan of the original superhero flick, so when he heard there was a sequel being made, he decided he had to be part of it and set about making a tune for it. "I love the Fantastic 4. As soon as I heard they were releasing a second movie, I wrote a track specifically for it," he explained. "I sent the demo of the song into Fox [the film’s producers] and they said yes straight away. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve always wanted to have a song on a movie soundtrack and you don’t get bigger than a big Hollywood blockbuster! I’m absolutely delighted." It's not just that that the star has to be so happy about. He's also playing his biggest solo show to date when he drops into the Arena in June. It's a gig that he wasn't expecting but is really looking forward to. "I thought my show was going to be at the Apollo. I pictured myself there, building up to the Arena. Now I’m jumping in at the deep end, but I’m ready for it." Ride The Storm/Grace is out on Innocent Records on Mon 18 Jun. Before that, Simon Webbe plays the Arena on Sat 9 Jun.Fantastic 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer hits cinemas on Fri 15 Jun. |
