Paul Benham (gig: 29/05/07) It’s a fair call to say that nutters will always be remembered. Take Ozzy for example, musically poor but bite the head off a little mammal and you'll go down in folklore. The same can also be said for the Cribs.
If they are not careful they may forever be known as those Yorkshire lads who dived off the stage at the NME awards and needed copious amounts of stitches.
To be fair, their performance at the Ritz wasn't exactly poor, just a bit… well… nothing. They promise a great deal and have since they shot onto the scenes back in 2003 but leave you feeling like you do after a fast food burger - satisfied but you would have felt much better having had a steak dinner.
Having said this, I like them and will continue to like them as long as they produce songs like I'm A Realist and current single Men's Needs, both delivered here with aplomb.
They offer something different and a lot can be said for that in today's musical climate. The thing is that they do nothing to excite me tonight and I'm left wondering whether it was worth leaving my Bank Holiday slumber to come and watch these nut jobs.
It’s sad to say but I think next time I'll just pop the CD on stay at home.
