They’re impressionable youngsters who have done well to take influence from their favourite artists; Muse one song, The Kooks the next… it even goes as far as the keyboard player playing like Chris Martin. Yet, oddly, it seems to work, like a big pick’n’mix. It’s a treat that’s paying off too, especially amongst the teens. Despite the note of ‘over 14’s only’ on the ticket, the crowd was threaded with a fair few border-line cases - I sensed some fake ID. Understandably, they looked pleased with themselves and, given their set, rightly so. At first look, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a bunch of lads having a jam together, that’s if it wasn’t for the fact that they were really tight, with finely honed well-written songs. Barely noticing the random kids grazing the stage before being chucked off, they look like this is just another chance to play together in any old place. And it works. Standing at the bar, I thought of the smorgasbord of new talent around at the moment, and wondered where they will all fit into the grand scheme of things. Thankfully, such things aren’t going to matter to Air Traffic. These guys will just meander on through – maybe not immediately, but they have plenty of time. |
