Eagles Of Death Metal at the Academy

Emma Robson (gig: 03/03/07)
How do you sum up Eagles Of Death Metal? It’s a tough one, as there’s only three words that come to mind when you think of them…

Eagles of Death Metal
Eagles of Death Metal

Certainly, for the ladies in the audience, front man Jesse Hughes made their night special with that cheeky moustache of his, and his all round love for them all!

But it wasn’t just the fairer sex that got satisfaction tonight. With their outrageous audience skills and perfected, yet humorous music, the Eagles were spot on.

Musically, Boys Bad News and Queen B And Baby Duck were more than good enough, but they prolonged their goodness by covering the Rolling Stones’ Brown Sugar and The Ramones’ Beat On The Brat – it was mind-boggling stuff!

And while their entertaining set didn’t quite seem long enough for those who’d donned their own fake facial fuzz for the night, the farewell did include a dazzling drumstick dance from Jesse, which topped off proceedings perfectly!

Although far from death metal, the Eagles certainly rocked our socks off tonight. And those three words to sum them up? Excellent, excellent and... excellent!
