Fear Of Music

Here comes the Fear

Fear Of Music have been gradually creeping into Manchester’s consciousness for a while now, but on Monday 12 February, that trickle becomes a torrent with the release of the We Are Not The Enemy EP.

Produced by Dimitri Tikovoi, who’s just been working with The Horrors and Placebo, the EP features the stomping glam-punk of the title track, the moody piano epic of A Blueprint and The Sheets Twist, a storming art-rock throwabout.

As with all Fear Of Music tracks, they feature front man Jo Rose’s apocalyptic lyrics, though he’s not prepared to say exactly what they mean.

"The songs are about whatever you want them to be about," he says. "I know what they mean to me, but I’m equally interested and entertained by how people choose to see them."

Three years ago, the four teenagers smashed their way into the world with the amazing demo, A Strange Kind Of Terror, a track that belied their ages and turned many heads at that year’s In The City.

And while bass player Ali may still be too young to vote, the band are set to show how they’ve come of age with plenty of touring and a debut album later this year. It promises to be one of the highlights of 2007.
