GeEkgiRL at the RoadhouseDominic Callaghan (gig: 01/12/06) Launching their new album, May Contain Traces Of Boy, GeEkgiRL are a three piece outfit who demand to be listened to. Taking the stage in front of 150 fanatics, you could tell that for most of those assembled, this wasn’t their first taste of Geek.

| | This probably stems from the online base GeEkgiRL has built through its website and as one of the numerous bands who use the internet as a forum getting their music across to the masses. You couldn’t find a more eclectic mix in an audience, with the cool teens, trendy thirties, grunge crowd, freaks, head bobbers and toe tappers all waiting for the sounds of Ted, Joel and Fi. Blasting out a 45 minute set of country punk, "the best description of our music" according to Joel The Bass, which rocks the crowd and has them chanting for more. When they follow with an acoustic encore of double bass, mandolin and guitar, they really shine as musicians and you really get the chance to appreciate the lyrics and harmonies in the band. Their ‘in your face’ lyrics and skilful catchy melodies mean GeEkgiRL could be one of the driving forces of Manchester music in 2007. | | | last updated: 05/12/06 | SEE ALSO
