Black Jackson are one of those bands. Coming from Bury, they have been a gigging band for the last few years and have honed such fine timing skills their live set stops and starts with impressive precision. At The Witchwood, they blasted into their powerful nine song set to a disappointingly empty dance floor. Thanks, however, to the regular chop changes from heavy intense rock music to very intelligent and complex melodic storytelling, the crowd previously stuck to the walls had gathered eagerly at the front by the end of the second song. Clearly a set of musically strong individuals, they work together as a complete unit live, giving flawless performances draped with a theatrical feel, thanks to the contagious expressionism of singer Alex. A true performer on stage, you are challenged at every corner by the memorable front man and, together with the fervent dedication and unmistakable musicianship of the rest of the band, the complete Black Jackson experience is an absolute thrill. From the insanely catchy opener Howl through to the wonderfully evocative statement Narcolepsy, the band delivered a well crafted live set full of imagination and feeling. Their ability to crossover to different audiences whilst still maintaining their individuality makes this band one not to be missed and not easily forgotten. |
