The Ordinary Boys at the Apollo

Emma Robson (gig: 06/10/06)
Following Preston’s appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, you can imagine the crowd’s anticipation and capacity waiting on the Ordinary Boys’ arrival. While cheers echoed around the room, the band’s emblem sparkled over the stage.

Parading onto the stage in his luminous pink jumper, Preston and the Ordinary army began with classic songs, Week In Week Out, and a personal favourite, Nine2Five.

With Mr Chantelle strumming his white guitar and ranting about the everyday chores of life, this enthusiastic and exciting group certainly owned the stage. The Ordinary Boys played a fair amount of old songs as well as new, even finding room for a slow piano song they had never played live before!

One of the many highlights of the night included dancing to Boys Will Be Boys, regardless to the endless amount of beer been thrown, and the jam-packed floor.

Having previously only heard The Ordinary Boys through passing music channels and radio shows, I was not let down by the standard of the group, particularly Preston's unique voice and style.

The show was a real Friday night treat, and I was impressed with how much talent these lads portrayed, proving that The Ordinary Boys were not so ordinary after all!
