Mixing the old with the new, the established with the upstarts, the event will see headline sets by Badly Drawn Boy on the main stage and The Longcut across the park at the other stage.

Alongside Damon, there’ll be performances by Elbow, an Andy Rourke-led supergroup, Lou Rhodes, Toolshed, Durutti Column, I Am Kloot and out-of-towner Graham Coxon, while the Longcut are joined by The KBC, The Answering Machine, Bureau, Redscarsgofaster, Snowfight In The City Centre, Komakino, The Sunshine Underground and art punks Roland Shanks.

Formed seven years ago in a Mancunian pub, MaK has been working to support the Kosovan people, helping them rebuild their lives after the atrocities of ethnic cleansing in the Balkans. Work has already begun on the Manchester Peace Park and it’s hoped that the festival at Platt Fields will allow the completion of it.

The park will provide a landmark for those evacuee families who, having sought refuge in Manchester, have now returned to their homes and wish to commemorate their time here.
