Here's a guide to travel problems heading to county games. It's the big one on Saturday with Middlesex heading to The Rose Bowl for the Twenty20 Cup Finals Day, plus there are fixtures for both Middlesex and Surrey in the Championship and Pro40. BBC London 94.9 will have regular travel updates as you head out of London. It's worth tuning to BBC Local Radio on the day as you make your way through the country and check the BBC Travel News website for a national picture. Middlesex v Somerset, (NatWest Pro40, Lord's, Monday, 04 August, 16:30 BST)The guys at Lord's strongly advise you take public transport to the ground as there is no parking on matchdays. The nearest Tube station is St John's Wood on the Jubilee line, which is a short walk down St John's Wood Road to the ground. Your best bet if travelling by car is to park up at a suburban Tube station and ride in. Baker Street on the Jubilee, Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. You can the take bus routes 13, 82 or 113 to the ground from Dorset Square. Glamorgan v Middlesex, (LVCC, 6th-9th August, Colwyn Bay)Take the M1 north out of London, and join the M6 signed for the North West. Continue on the M6, which will briefly take you onto the M42, and leave at J20, joining the M56. The M56 will become the A5117, then the A550, A494, over the Queensferry Bridge and onto the A55. Continue on the A55 for around 35 miles and leave at J20 for the B5113 to Rhos-on-Sea. You will be signed to the ground from there. ![]() Avoid delays to county grounds Yorkshire v Surrey, (LVCC, 30th July-2nd August, Headingley, 11:00 BST)You are going to need the M1 to get to Yorkshire, so you could either drive through central London (though the congestion charge will be in force at times) or you could take the North Circular Road to Staples Corner and join from there. Leave the M1 at J43 and take the M621 as far as J2. Sign from J2 will guide you to Headingley along the A643, and along the Leeds Inner Ring Road to the A660 which is signposted for Skipton and Headingley. Parking: on-street car parking around Headingley is restricted. By rail: Leeds Station is a 10-15 minute drive from Headingley. A taxi should cost around £7. Headingley Station is on the Harrogate Line and is 10 minutes walk from the ground. Trains run half hourly from Leeds and should take around 12 minutes. Derbyshire v Surrey, (NatWest Pro40, 3rd August, Chesterfield, 13:45 BST)Take the M1 out of London and drive for quite a while, leaving at J29. Follow the A617 signed for Chesterfield and continue until you reach the turn for the A619. Join the A619 signed for Bakewell and at the West Bars Roundabout, take the first exit onto Boythorpe Road, which will lead you to the ground. Essex v Surrey, (NatWest Pro40, 5th August, Chelmsford, 16:30 BST)A short trip to Chelmsford via the A12, so you can either take the North Circular Road to the Redbridge Roundabout or the M25 leaving at J28. Head north on the A12 until the A414 turn-off where you should take the 2nd exit bound for Harlow. Follow the A414 for around three miles and after two roundabouts take the 1st exit at the third onto Moulsham Street (the B1007, signposted for the town centre). After half a mile, turn left onto New Writtle Street, and you should see the County Ground from there. Parking: Very limted parking for members only, however the ground is within walking distance of several multi-storey car parks. ![]() BBC London ball-by-ball coverageDon't miss a ball this summer with updates from Kevin Hand at Middlesex and Mark Church at Surrey on the BBC London website.
