Children aren't playing enough cricket - they don't care about the game.... There's not enough talent coming through!Familiar complaints, of course.... But the cricket foundation is trying counteract those trends. Chance to Shine, a cricket foundation initiative, teamed up with the MCC to give children a day's cricket at the Lord's. A thousand kids turned up at the Lord's on 13th June to enjoy a one-day match between Middlesex and Sussex as part of a campaign to regenerate competitive cricket in state schools. Children from 24 schools in London and five in Sussex watched the Friends Provident Trophy match as guests of the MCC. They also visited the world-famous MCC Museum, home of the Ashes urn and currently hosting the Brian Lara Exhibition. Part of the day consisted of the Cricket factory where boys and girls got the chance to play fun cricket games testing their batting bowling and fielding skill's. BBC London 94.9's Ed Draper went down to the home of Cricket and spoke with the man who came up with the idea for the event, Jack Jacobs, an MCC member and Chance to Shine Ambassador.
