Motorsport - Brands Hatch launch new season

The Brands Hatch circuit will enjoy it's busiest ever season in 2007 with a programme of top class events. Listen to interviews with the drivers and riders involved and view our photo galleries

To launch the biggest ever season for this famous track, a number of the top riders and drivers turned out to kick off the 2007 campaign.

It all started on Sunday 1st April with the opening rounds of the British Touring Car Championships. Below you can hear interviews with reigning champion Matt Neal, as well as local drivers Tom Onslow-Cole, Tom Chilton and Gareth Howell.

The biggest event will be on the weekend of 4/5 August when over 100,000 bike fans attend the World Superbike Championships. You can hear 2004 champion James Toseland on his thoughts about Brands and the trip to Donington, which has been added to the calendar this year.

There will also be two rounds of the British Superbike Championship at Brands - the season kicks off over the Easter weeekend. Listen to interviews from the launch in London and view the picture gallery below.

Brands will also host the final round of A1GP (April 27-29) - listen to Team GB driver Robbie Kerr; along with more tin top action with the DTM (8-10 June) and World Touring Cars (21-23 Sept). Listen to a flying lap of Brands courtesy of three-times WTCC champ Andy Priaulx and watch BBC London's Mark Bright get taken for a ride around the circuit!

Motor racing wouldn't be able to function without the work of volunteers who carry out vital roles such as track marshalling. Hear the thoughts of Mark Werrell from Volunteers in Motorsport as they look for new recruits.

You can listen to all of the interviews by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page, and look at our photo galleries too.
