Glenarm college Christmas service

Glenarm college Christmas service

Local Christmas service

As the festive season fast approaches, schools from around the boroughs begin to hold their Christmas services. One school in Redbridge took a camcorder and filmed their preparations

Glenarm college facts:

  • Glenarm College was founded in 1893
  • It is the oldest surviving school in Ilford.
  • The Ilford Hospital Chapel was founded in or about the year 1145 AD.

Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without out the traditional school carol service.

It's the season for songs like, 'Oh little town of Bethlehem' and 'Once in Royal David city' to be belted out by school children across London to an audience of nervous teachers, who want their class to perform the best, and overly-excited parents waiting for the moment their child comes on the stage wearing an angel costume.

And for the Glenarm college in Ilford, it means exactly that! This year their annual service was held at the Ilford Hospital Chapel.

Weeks of preparation culminated in an hour long service that had all the children taking part, and brought a standing ovation from parents and teachers.

Fortunately they had a camcorder at their disposal and captured the process - from a classroom chat about the meaning of Christmas, to the amazing carol service.
