Have you ever wanted to get a glimpse at the hidden interiors of buildings you walk by every day of the week? | | Gibbs Building, Euston Road |
Open House London sees more than 600 buildings throw open their doors to the public for one weekend. From Victorian gems such as the Great Eastern Hotel's Masonic Hall and the Old Turkish Baths to landmark new buildings such as the Gibbs Building on the Euston Road and the Greenwich Yacht Club, Open House covers some of the capital's best architecture. You'll also be able to view Future London by visiting some of the capital's building projects under construction such as Heathrow's Terminal 5 and the Unilever Building near Blackfriars Bridge. One of the key themes of this year's weekend is 'learning by design' with a number of newly designed school buildings opening their doors. | | Meadlands classroom of the future |
Not only will you be able to access the buildings, you'll also be able to find out more about them through a series of talks and exhibitions. London's Open House takes place on Saturday and Sunday September 17 and 18. Please note that 30 St Mary Axe - otherwise known as The Gherkin - is not open this year for Open House.
