BBC London news is broadcast digitally on BBC1 via satellite, cable, freeview, freesat and the internet.

Programme Times

Monday to Friday BBC1 0630 to 0900 (every 30 minutes), 13:30 to 13:45, 15:25, 18:30 to 19:00, 22:25 to 22:35, Saturday BBC1 17:25 (will vary), Sunday BBC1 18:05 (will vary).

1. Digital Satellite (DSAT)

BBC London news is transmitted via digital satellite. If you have a digital satellite receiver box you can watch BBC London during the times listed above. All you have to do is select channel 101 (BBC1 - your region) if you are in the London area.

Channel 101 should display the regional news from where you live - this is determined by your postcode when you get your viewing card.

If you are not getting the BBC London region on channel 101, and you think you should be, then your account details may need to be upgraded.

If you are outside the London area but still want to watch the London news you can select other BBC regions (channel numbers 941 upwards).

2. Digital Cable (DCAB)

You can watch BBC London news if you have digital cable (i.e. Virgin Media*) and if you are in the London area.

*Digital cable suppliers vary depending on the area.

3. Freeview/DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television)

You can watch BBC London news if you have a DTT receiver box and if you are in the London area.

You can not choose to watch other BBC regions on freeview.

Some televisions now have DTT receivers built into them.

4. Freesat

Freesat, the UK’s free-to-air digital satellite TV service, does carry regional variations of BBC TV services including regional news and weather.

5. Internet

You can watch BBC London news via the internet from the BBC London website. This will not be live or of the quality of tv transmissions but you can view from anywhere in the world with just a modem connection.

You will get the latest bulletin available and we record the lunchtime news, evening programme and the late news. Weekend bulletins are also recorded.

We also offer each weekday programme from 6.30pm.

6. Broadband Television

Several companies will broadcast the BBC One London channel via a broadband television service. Tiscali and BT Vision offer BBC One as a subscription service.
