For one week the village of Thornton Hough has been decorated with scarecrows of all shapes and sizes, from Dennis the Menace and Homer Simpson to pirates and The Grim Reaper.
The festival runs until this weekend with a fete on Saturday 3rd July when thousands of people visit the village to admire the scarecrows.
The chairman of the Scarecrow Festival Committee is David McCaig he says "The scarecrows are generally prepared in secrecy in garages and sheds in Thornton Hough. The neighbours really don't tell each other what they're doing. All of a sudden they keep popping up like mushrooms, one here, one there throughout the week." See the picture gallery of some of the scarecrows on display. We're trying to build the ultimate Scouse scarecrow from body parts of famous Liverpudlians, but we need your help.
