Ken Dodd won the Great Merseysiders poll

After weeks of voting Ken Dodd has been declared winner of Great Merseysiders in a special BBC poll.

Ken Dodd beat off strong competition from people including Lennon and McCartney who came in second and Noel Chavasse who came in third. Other Great Merseysiders include the likes of Michael Owen and William Gladstone. Almost five thousand people across Merseyside phoned in and e-mailed their votes, but the comedian emerged triumphant with forty-nine percent of the votes going to him.
