Rainhill High Superlambanana

Superlambanana at Rainhill High School

Our School Superlamb

As part of Capital of Culture year in Liverpool hundreds of Superlambananas took to the streets. They have now moved on - except one.

A school inspired Superlambanana designed by a student is on show at Rainhill High School. But we ask, where have all of the other Superlambanana’s gone? Why are they a cross between a lamb and a banana? And why does Rainhill High School still have one?

Many of the Superlambanana’s other than Rainhill High School’s have gone missing.

Rumour has it than some were sold off for charity but, many students at Rainhill High School report having seen them wandering in the evening down quiet lanes nearby. It seems they have got their freedom.

So, why is a Superlambanana at Rainhill High School, we spoke to the head teacher of Rainhill High School, Mr. Pout.

"Rainhill High School has a Superlambanana because we are an Arts College and we are part of Merseyside and the Liverpool Capital of Culture.

"One of the biggest parts of the Capital Culture was Superlambananas.

"It is nice to have art work in the school gardens and lots of students admire it and have there pictures taken with it."

The Superlambanana is based on goods trading from trades in Wales and other countries and the design was made by a Japanese Artist named Taro Chiezo.

The lamb is used because Wales and England (Liverpool) had a rich trade of lambs for food. Then, the Banana’s are because of a rich banana trade from overseas.

The Superlambanana at Rainhill High School will be repainted each year for the next four years. Two small replicas will also be painted.
