A familiar site on the Kop at Anfield, Frank Graceffa’s huge flag in support of Liverpool F.C. can easily be draped across two semi-detached houses. “Ironing it takes some doing” laughs Frank.

The story of the flag dates back to the 1984 European Cup Final when Frank noticed the incredible banners displayed by Italian fans. “I thought I’d love to have something like that for our club” says Frank. Eight years ago, Frank started making the great flag with just a badge in the center at first, and as more materials became available, the project grew, as did the cost of making it. “It’s a lot of money!” says Frank.

Frank remains quietly confident about the semi-finals against Chelsea. “The biggest problem is finding the yellow material to add a sixth star! We don’t need to be given flags to wave, we do it anyway, because that’s who we are.”
