Jo Bywater

Jo Bywater

Her sound mixes tasty riffs, raw blues and acoustic funk, all wrapped up in some visually captivating lyrics. Singer/songwriter Jo Bywater is BBC Introducing's profile of the month.

After a twelve year crusade to become a lead guitar legend, Jo Bywater turned her back on her self-indulgent six-string shredding and walked a new path.

Now Jo has unleashed a new batch of original tunes, filled with inspiration and bearing her tortured soul on the ears of the public. Stripped of her beloved electric guitar, she walks solo and acoustic, joining the pool of credible independent songwriters in the music industry.

Her sound mixes tasty riffs, raw blues and funk, all wrapped up in package of visually captivating lyrics. Guitar-wise, her influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Pearl Jam, Nuno Bettencourt and The Red Hot Chili Peppers whilst her songwriting appreciation is centered around artists like Neil Young, Fiona Apple and Ani DiFranco.

Based in Liverpool and armed with passion and conviction, Jo has played her way through a decade of change to arrive in 2006 with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and creativity.
