School News Report Day

Ever thought that this radio business is child's play? Well it's not! To prove it BBC Radio Lincolnshire have adopted Banovallum School in Horncastle to take over the airwaves on March 13th.

School News Report Day

It was a very early start to the day, cornflakes at 5.30am! Still, the small matter of taking over BBC Radio Lincolnshire for the day was enough to make us all jump out of bed with more enthusiasm than on a normal school day.

Our job is simple, throughout the day this page will be updated with audio and pictures from School News Report Day at BBC Radio Lincolnshire. This is to give you the very latest of what's going on with the hard working radio enthusiasts of Banovallum School.

Zenobie

Zenobie

Zenobie - presents traffic and travel information

Local traffic reports on the radio are very important to people travelling to work. Accurate information is vital for regular commuters to be aware of the problems on the road. Normally Amanda is tasked with collecting and collating all the information and reading out regular bulletins on air. But today, just to help Amanda out, we have called on the services of Zenobie from Banovallum School.

The Morning Papers

Get your papers here!

Early this morning, at 08:25, Jasmine and Mollie reviewed several different newspapers, picking out interesting stories to intrigue our listeners. From swimming cats, to a brutal attack, they fluently broadcast their opinions of what was in the headlines today. Our teacher Miss Watkin was on hand to offer a bit of help with reviewing the stories and to offer some expert advice. Well, it's not everyday you get to go on the radio!

Matthew Sutton

The former Banovallum student came in to the studio to share his experiences and recent achievements with the School News Report team. The former England U16 captain now plays his rugby in Italy and I was keen to find out more about his career and what life was like living in Italy.

Bevan

Bevan

Bevan - Highlight of the day

Banovallum pupil Bevan was lucky enough to have a chat with BBC News Presenter Huw Edwards for School News Report. Bevan was a bit nervous at first, but soon got into the swing of things and was keen to report "what a really nice guy Huw Edwards is". Why he should be surprised, I don't know!

Banovallum pupils present the news.

Pupils from Banovallum had the chance to present the 2-30pm news bulletin on BBC Radio Lincolnshire. They had already spent the day preparing material for air and interviewing a variety of guests. The bulletin was live on air, so no pressure then! After the bulletin Sue Taylor had a chat with the pupils to find out what they thought of the experience.

Adopt-a-School on BBC Radio Lincolnshire

On the 5th February the radio team from Banovallum School visited Television Centre in London. They spent the day putting their journalism skills into action, including grabbing an interview with presenter Kate Silverton.

This is a partnership project between CfBT Lincolnshire School Improvement Service and BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
