The world is in turmoil. Warring factions have taken their toll on the desolate landscape. Blood lust reaches a climax as warriors from either side plot the beginning of the end.

But it won’t be easy: Just who is John Doe? What are the motives of the mysterious Agent? And how can you save the world when you’re made out of plastic?

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love My Toys is a war satire that speaks to the child in all of us. Chronicling the exploits and adventures of two opposing armies of toy soldiers, it explores the absurdities of war with ferocious humour and fearsome wit.

Complete with a cast of toy soldiers, militant ‘Babsie’ dolls and a host of other inhabitants of the toy box, this is a comedy with a sense of humour to match its sense of morality.

The play will have be premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe

University of Leicester Theatre (LUT), is run by students, for students and attempts to counter the stereotypical image of drunken, lazy layabouts.

In recent years LUT has gone from strength to strength, achieving international success at the Shakespeare Youth 2000 festival in Vilnius, Lithuania and at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001.

Following the success of Cows:The Musical two years ago, the chance to take another original production to Edinburgh was too tempting to resist.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love My Toys, written by University of Leicester graduate Steve Rodgers, receives its world premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The actors from LUT will travel to Edinburgh for the fringe on 09 to 15 August so keep your eye out on BBC Leicester for coverage of their trip!
