The Leicester Tigers, Guinness Premiership champions and EDF Energy Cup winners this term, finally met their match. Tigers were shot to bits by London Wasps, who were bossing the breakdown and almost stealing possession at will. Listen to our post-match interviews, report and highlights from the Heineken Cup Final...Just eight days after they blitzed Gloucester to land their first domestic title since 2002, Leicester were outgunned tactically and technically by a physically-imposing Wasps side. | | Captain Corry expresses his frustration |
When Tigers did break clear, Dan Cipriani executed a brilliant try-saving tackle on Tuilagi. It typified a brilliant Wasps defensive performance which kept Leicester pointless through the second half. The Tigers lost a scrum against the head inside the Wasps 22 from which Haskell collected the ball to sprint 80 metres clear. He was eventually hauled down by Leicester replacement fly-half Ian Humphries but Wasps kept the pressure on and King slotted three more points. It was the kick to end any hopes Leicester Tigers had of victory and the kick which crowned Wasps 2007 European champions. |
