Would you risk your luscious locks to save a bit of cash? Well that's exactly what brave BBC Radio Leicester reporters Helen Astle and Jo Bostock did when they went to a model night at Indy hairdressers in Leicester. Listen to their report...Jo says that a cut and full-head colour usually costs her about £70, and that certainly adds up if you need to have it done every six weeks! So that's where model night comes in - a salon quality haircut for less than half usual the price. What's the catch?The catch is that your hair is being cut by a student, not a fully-qualified hairdresser. However Jo says that at Indy the students taking part in model night weren't fresh out of college - they'd been in training for four and a half years and were constantly being supervised by a top stylist. The verdictJo and Helen both seemed to think it was worth taking the risk for the financial saving. A full-head colour for Jo cost just £15 and Helen's cut cost £10 - a huge discount on the price of a normal haircut. And other people seem to agree with them! Charlotte, a student hairdresser at Indy, says that model nights are very popular, and they even have a waiting list.
