So what's in store for you throughout our Ruby Anniversary year. Read on to find out more... Can you believe it? A Ruby Anniversary for the BBC’s first local radio station which went on air in 1967. So how are we going to celebrate?Well stay tuned to BBC Radio Leicester (104.9FM, DAB and Online) and East Midlands Today (BBC One 18:30) to hear about the huge events and celebrations we've got planned.
Something for every month of the year through till December 2007 and we want you to join in with as many as you can. The Rainbow AppealThe biggest event of them all is our charity appeal... We are going to raise £400,000 (£10,000 for every year we've been broadcasting). We want to do this to help build an extension to the Rainbow’s Hospice in Loughborough for teens and 20’s. The present set up at Rainbows is a wonderful environment for younger children, but teenagers and young adults have different needs and interests. Rainbows aims to raise at least £4 million to extend current facilities for all those using the hospice as well as building the additional facilities for young people. The new building will be able to provide bedrooms and facilities which are completely appropriate for those needs whilst still sharing the best medical facilities and staff with the rest of the Hospice. ![]() We need your helpNow we want you to help us give the Ruby Rainbow Appeal a flying start.
