In 1985 BBC Radio Leicester's Tony Wadsworth and John Florance embarked on a adventure which would take them to the extremes of our Kingdom. Now twenty-five years on the two revisit that experience in a documentary tracking their journey from Land's End to John O'Groats in a 1914 Model T Ford named Priscilla. Listen as Tony Wadsworth and John Florance set off on their incredible adventure...It was a cold December morning that saw the team of six set off on the five day expedition. Radio Leicester's Tony Wadsworth, John Florance and Harry Birch along with Central Motors in Leicester's Alan North, Trevor Stokes and Mark Busby made up the six strong team. | | John Florance, Alan North and Tony Wadsworth. |
The plan was to travel the huge distance of roughly 1,000 miles whilst stopping off along the way to establish contacts with the locals and dropping in on other local radio stations. Chugging their way across the land they bumped into a whole host of interesting characters and eventually arrived at John O'Groats on New Year's Eve, 1985. Their achievement was amazing but they both agreed it was all thanks to the wonderful Priscilla! |
