The Tigers wanted the new logo to combine the traditional aspects of the club, and a powerful and easily recognisable identity. The previous logo was thought to be slightly two-dimensional, and as the club has just celebrated its 125th anniversary, the time was thought to be right for change. | "We were keen to make the design more eye-catching, without losing sight of our history or trying to be overtly trendy." | | David Clayton, Tigers' Managing Director |
Managing director, David Clayton, says there were several factors to consider for the new logo: "We were keen to make the design more eye-catching, without losing sight of our history or trying to be overtly trendy." The new logo will be used on all promotional and branding material in the run up to the start of the 2006/7 season. However it will not appear on the current playing strip, as the Tigers are keen to ensure that their supporters are not exploited in any way. The club doesn't want fans that have already purchased kit to feel that they have to buy a new one to keep up with the team – they're grrrrreat! |
