Fly-tipping is a growing concern around Leicestershire. The unauthorised dumping of waste can vary from a single black bag of rubbish to a truck loads of unused furniture. Between 26 - 28 July 2006 we are asking you to help us by telling us about any illegal rubbish dumped around Leicestershire to plot on our map. Last year there were more than 7,600 reported fly-tipping incidents in the city and more than £318,000 was spent on clearing up this waste. Fly-tipping is an arrestable offence, with a maximum £50,000 fine or five years imprisonment, under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act. Grot SpotsIllegal rubbish tends to be dumped on roads, fields and other public spaces. So, do you know of any grot spots in your area? Is the rubbish piling up in Ratby?
