Matthew Fulham, from Hinckley, was killed in the blast at the Egyptian holiday resort of Sharm al-Sheikh on 23 July. Now his family has set up the Matthew Fulham Memorial Trust to help future victims of terrorist attacks. Funds are being raised so the organisation can assist bereaved relatives in meeting costs such as funeral expenses. Matthew's dad Pete, aged 49, says the trust will also campaign for compensation for UK citizens killed in terror attacks abroad. Listen to Pete Fulham's moving interview about why the trust was set up - and read his account of the night Matthew died: Mr Fulham, who lives with wife Julie, 48, and their sons Ashley and Thomas, aged 17 and 14, and 12-year-old daughter Devan, says he hopes the move will help to make sense of Matthew's death. | | Sailing was another of Matthew's hobbies |
He said: "If this campaign isn't successful Matty will have died unnecessarily - and it just doesn't seem right that he should die for no reason". A spokeswoman for the department for culture, media and sport said the Government is looking into the possibility of setting up a fund to help victims. She said the Government is also putting pressure on the travel industry to make sure insurance covers tourists killed in terror attacks. |
