Wavelength FM, based at BBC Radio Leicester, is run by teenagers for teenagers. Six youngsters, with the help of an adult producer create news and programmes for the station. But sexual tension, personality clashes and naked ambition often get in the way of the harmonious running of the team! The characters Presenter Andy is arrogant, big headed and driven by ambition. He is also dedicated, smart and good at his job. Andy believes the station could not run without him - and unfortunately he is probably right! Renee, who is also a presenter, joined Wavelength FM after featuring in the station's first big story. Everyone can see she has bags of talent and the ability to present the radio show...everyone, that is, except Andy. | | Renee and Andy in the studio |
Researcher Rocco is Renee's younger brother. Although he has a sensitive side he hides it well behind the usual teenage boy nonsense. His detailed research is never wrong. But Rocco often finds himself in hot water for sticking his nose where it is not wanted. Editor Ayesha does not want any praise or limelight, she just wants to work hard at what she loves best - reporting. She is the object of Rocco's affections but he is too shy to tell her. Only Renee knows Rocco well enough to guess his secret. Cute roving reporter Sam is often the object of female fans' attentions. Andy will never understand what Sam has that he hasn't! But Sam's dedication and tendency to work long shifts masks a reluctance to face his tormented personal life. Jo is the other reporter on the Wavelength FM team. She comes up with some exciting stories - and is not afraid to vent her anger when they are dropped! Producer James Christopher is rarely seen - but steps in to make the big decisions Ayesha cannot cope with.
