A Melton police officer has solved the problem of not being seen all the time - by creating a life-size replica of himself!


A Leicestershire police officer has solved the problem of not being seen all the time - by creating a life-size replica of himself.

Pc Spike Yeoman, aged 44, now has a cardboard counterpart which will be displayed in the Southern part of Melton Mowbray.

The dad-of-two said: "Most of my beat is residential and it would take me forever to go around knocking on doors to introduce myself.

Pc Yeoman, who covers an area including Baldocks Lane and Burton Road, says replicas will also be made of other officers.

The figure is currently being displayed in schools and will also be put in shops.

Pc Yeoman says it will build on work he has already done with pupils.

He said: "One of my key aims is to promote respect and manners in the community.

"This has already been launched in schools in the area with an initiative teaching youngsters it pays to be polite".
