Bollywood balti

The nephew of Indian film legend Raj Kapoor was the guest of honour at the opening of a Bollywood themed restaurant in Leicester. Aditya Kapoor cut the ribbon at Shreejee Chopatti's Bageecha Restaurant.


Indian film nut Dipesh Majithia has given his Leicester restaurant a Bollywood-style makeover.

Shreejee Chopatti's Bageecha Restaurant on Melton Road was officially re-opened by Aditya Kapoor, nephew of legendary Indian actor Raj Kapoor.

The curry house is decorated with Raj Kapoor portraits and movie posters and Bollywood music is also played.

Dipesh, aged 28, of Belgrave Road, is also a film promoter and producer, says Raj Kapoor has been the inspiration for his career.

He said: "Raj Kapoor is a name that no-one can forget.

“He was an actor and film maker of international stature.

“The entire venue is a homage to the showman.

“We chose Aditya for our grand opening because we thought he is among the closest kin to Raj Kapoor."

Raj Kapoor is associated some of the most famous films in India, including Awaara, Barsaat and Sangam.
