As an 18 year old student from Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College, I have always been really drawn towards art and over the years I've become more and more passionate about my work. For me, the creative process has consistently been really relaxing and enjoyable and as a student, I've also got the challenge of learning new skills and techniques such as measured drawings and working with negative space. | | Tonal painting of figure, using layering technique |
It’s fantastic to get the creative juices flowing to rework and improve a piece of work; I love trying to develop into my own distinctive style. As a child, as I would sit around for hours making sketches of my surroundings. They weren't exactly pieces of artistic genius (well, I was only about seven years old at the time!) but it made me realise that as I grew older Art and Design was really the only field that I truly wanted to pursue a career in. | "I love the idea of improving the space people live in to make it more personalised to their taste" | | Art student Heena Kataria |
This is why I decided to do Art and Design at GCSE level. Now I'm studying Double Award AVCE Art and Design (which is equivalent to two A-Levels) and after my results this summer, I'm hoping to go to Leeds College of Art and Design in order to follow my lifelong dream of being an Interior Designer. I love the idea of improving the space people live in to make it more personalised to their taste, making life a little bit easier and more enjoyable as people interact with their own environment. Eventually, it'd be great to be in the position to open my own designing company. |
