FAB for hire

If you've ever wanted to be Gordon Tracy then a Leicester enthusiast will soon be offering trips in a specially converted Thunderbirds-style pink limo!

Have you ever wanted to zip round the world in Thunderbird One? Or were you jealous of Gordon Tracy as he negotiated Thunderbird Four deep underwater to rescue the world from certain disaster?

Well now everyone's dream of taking a ride in one of the magnificent crafts could be about to become reality.

Melvin Jarvis from Thurnby Lodge in Leicestershire is building a life-sized version of Lady Penelope's pink limo!

Melvin plans to be your very own Parker and, for a fee, taxi you to and from events and functions.

The 21-foot long car is a life-sized replica of the model used in the television series and has six wheels. He started building the car last Christmas and hopes to be on the road in time for the start of the Christmas party season.

Detail is key!

"There is still a little bit of finishing off to do here and there but it's pretty much a complete car now. It starts and drives and there's just a bit of cosmetics to finish off. I am hoping to hire it out," says Melvin.

Melvin, who is a fan of the television series says he always planned to build something like this and, although it started as a hobby, he soon realised he could make a living acting as Parker to the public.

"It's something I have always wanted to do from being a kid. I have started building it and it has gone from there. There has to be a purpose rather than it being in the garage," adds Melvin.

Melvin hopes to add all the extras and finishing touches to his FAB 1 soon as watch out on the streets of Leicestershire for people lording it around town in their very own piece of retro fun.

I think this would be great. We need more limos on the streets - I'm finding it very hard to book a limo.
