| | PICTURES FROM THE NIGHT Enter Passion on the last Saturday of the month and the difference is clear for all to see; the hard trance of JFK and co. that the clubbing world so readily associates with Coalville is pushed into the backroom in a swap which sees the twisted house beats of the Redroom take centre stage, with a total room transformation to boot. In the five Redroom Sessions since the nights conception at the turn of the year, thousands of clubbers have flocked to see the epitome of house DJs entertain the masses, and this month was no exception. | | Dirty Vegas rocked the floors at Passion on Saturday. |
Headlining the night was Underwater Records Tim Deluxe, whos Latino inspired It Just Wont Do topped the charts and rocked Ibiza last summer, and recent Grammy winners Dirty Vegas, fresh from their own chart successes of Ghosts and Days Gone By, as well as house musics favourite Liverpudlian, Yousef. Not only has the Redroom Sessions been able to attract house DJs of the highest calibre to the Emporium, the room swap has also opened the door to a host of up-and-coming trance DJs who have built reputations over the past few months at BabyPassion, Passions night for new talent in Loughborough.
Mays debutantes came in the shape of Drakau, Dan Platten and Stu J, and their performances defied their lack of experience, showing an understanding of the Passion regulars that only dedicated followers themselves could hold. Overall, a top-class, and very well-received evening, from a night that is destined to become a front-runner in the UK house scene. | | Pete Morgan |
After an early warm-up set from Yousef, residents MYNC Project effortlessly pushed the growing crowd up a step with their patented 4 deck antics, spanning the entire spectrum of house music.
The trio Dirty Vegas followed, with live percussion and a lively blend of dark tribal house, reeling in the crowd with their very own Days Go By. As the night moved on, so did the DJs, and on came Tim Deluxe to up energy levels even further; Donna Summers I Feel Love, Gus Gus David and Deluxes own We All Love Sax the highlights of a well planned set, brought to an end with his soon to be chart-bound Less Talk More Action, a high octane house number, finishing the night in true Passion style. Overall, a top-class, and very well-received evening, from a night that is destined to become a front-runner in the UK house scene; and a further reason why Passion can buck the trend of decline in the countries super-clubs.
