BBC Cricket correspondent JONATHAN AGNEW and film actor BORIS KARLOFF went to the same school.

Jonathan Agnew was born in Macclesfield, the son of a farmer, and moved to Leicestershire as a child. He was a professional cricketer for 13 years and joined Leicestershire in 1978. Playing for England six times, he took 666 first-class wickets. He retired in l990 to join BBC Radio Leicester as the station's Sports Editor, moving on to the 'Today' newspaper as their cricket correspondent. As the BBC's Cricket Correspondent in 1993 he won the Radio Sports Reporter of the Year Sony Award.

	Boris Karloff

Actor Boris Karloff was born William Pratt in Dulwich in 1887. He became Hollywood's most successful bogeyman, a gaunt, bow legged actor whose menacing style scared the wits out of generations of film fans, particularly in the role of Frankenstein.

He was in fact one of the film industry's most popular figures, a gentle, sensitive, and highly cultured man. His final film was Targets released in 1968, directed by Peter Bogdanovich, in which he played an elderly horror-film actor. He died in 1969, still a much beloved screen star.
