The masterplan provides the framework for regeneration in the city over the next 10 years and beyond.

It has been produced for the Leicester Regeneration Company (LRC) by a team of internationally renowned consultants led by Roger Tym and Partners.

The masterplan identifies five proposals, which will be key in the economic and physical regeneration of the city.

John Nicholls, Chief Executive of the Leicester Regeneration Company, says: "Over the last few months we have been working closely with our consultants to develop a masterplan which will have a real impact on the future of our city.

"We have consulted extensively with the public and feel we now have a plan which builds on Leicester’s current assets and identifies bold but deliverable key projects, to make a significant change to the life of the city."

The consultation period gathered views on the preliminary plans for people in Leicester by holding exhibitions such as the one in the Shires shopping centre.

Following the release of the plans, more detailed designs will be drawn up, giving the public a clearer idea of the proposals.

The final aspect of the project will set deadlines and a delivery plan for the five sectors of the regeneration.
