Immigration and Emigration
Empty house in Mirpur

Previous

Although many planned to stay in Bradford for a few years, and save enough money to return to Mirpur to live in some comfort, few have settled back in Mirpur on a permanent basis. Palatial houses fill the towns and dot the countryside. Yet many remain empty for much of the time, their owners still live overseas. With families reunited in Britain, people are reluctant to leave their children and grand children and undergo the pain of separation for a second time.
