Going green?

It's the second day of Leeds Festival 2007 and Layla's hungry.

One thing I love about festivals is the food. There's so much on offer, from Thai curry to Yorkshire pudding and gravy. In three days I try best to get around all the different stalls. If only to have a nosy.

In recent years festival food's cleaned up its act health-wise. You're as likely to see a smoothie bar as a chip van in the grounds of Bramham Park. But nothing has given me as much pleasure this year as discovering a decent curry - from West Yorkshire's own Aagrah restaurant.

This year the festival organisers have decided to cut down on their food miles so there are a few stalls run by local businesses using local ingredients. There's a stall run by Thomas Danby College students and one selling nut-free food. I'm impressed by the green credentials, but more impressed by that fact that it's yummy.

There's more environmentally friendly goings-on on site - like if you return your used beer cup you can claim 10p. Hence lots of people wandering around collecting empties to get some cash. I wonder whether it will make much difference to the mess the festival's finished?

Apart from the eating I've been dashing from stage to stage today seeing little bits of all sorts of sets (including Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, 1990s, Jack Penate, the Subways, Kings of Leon...) I'm gutted I missed the secret Kaiser Chiefs gig! I am going to try and get more organised for the final day.

One thing I have noticed this year - here's a tip for any budding rock stars - a lot of females on stage are looking very spangly (cat suits or guitars) but if you want to be a lead singer and you're male it's all the rage to leave your top off altogether!

Right - where's that doughnut stand?
