The week after two hard fought draws against then table toppers Colton, Garforth Villa welcomed an Amaranth team who had won their first point the week before. Garforth Villa 7-1 AmaranthThe first game started at a fast pace with both teams looking to take control. Villa began to show their strength and the break through came after 14 minutes when a long throw from Jack B was picked up by Boovy who calmly side footed the ball in the net. The second was two minutes later,again a long Jack B throw was controlled well by Dec and a short pass to Boovy resulted in his second through the Goalies legs. The third was all Jack B who picked up the ball in the middle went past three of the opposition before drilling an unstoppable shot in the back of the net. Just before half time Amaranth got their goal due to an unlucky bounce in front of our keeper Dale. In the second half Villa began to show their passing ability and Jack B got his second hitting powerful first time shot from a cleared ball by Amaranth. Lee then provided a long throw picked up and cooly finished by Todd. Number six came from a well worked short corner from Dec controlled by Todd who gave a precise pass to Lee who finished strongly. Just before the final whistle a surging run from Lee ended up with a fine pass to allow Todd to score a well deserved second. The game was not just about goals Dan S was as calm as ever at the back supported by hard tackling by Adie throughout the game. Ross again showed his controlling influence in midfield and was the at the start of many of Villas best moves as his quick accurate passing gave his team mates space and time to progress. Dale in goals read the game well throughout ensuring he cleared dangerous balls quickly. Garforth Villa 21-0 AmaranthVilla recorded their best result of the season and the highest score in the league by any team with a dominating display against a battling Amaranth. It was clear that from Cams first goal straight from the kick off when he dribbled past the entire Amaranth team before finishing that there was only going to be one winner. The goals came thick and fast with Cam, Hazza, Dan W, Matty and Joe C sharing the honours, and the other notable highlights were: Hazza's cool finishing for his goals Dan's first as he anticipated a clearance and went past two before finishing well Mattys bullet return into the top corner from an Amaranth goal kick Joe C's finish from an impossible angle on the goal line and his excellent positional play throughout Cams strong running and close control resulting in him top scoring for Villa Again this was a team performance and the three in defence Owen, George and Jack kept the opposition to nil with some quick thinking, hard tackling and they made a number of goals with surging runs and precise passing especially from Jack. Joe B played out of position in midfield. His tough tackling started many of Villas best moves and his unselfish passing gave tap in opportunities to his team mates. |
