By Andrew Marshall Seacroft Colts v Churwell Lions: Friendly U7s, 4 November 2006
A: Seacroft Colts U7's 1 -2 Churwell Lions U7's
A good crowd turned up to watch this return fixture hoping for a repeat of the exciting goal-filled home game played in September.
However, the match proved much tighter as Seacroft fielded a greatly improved team. Lion's Captain Sweeney had to work hard in defence as did Metcalfe in goal who produced a top drawer save. Seacroft scored first but the Lions kept battling and were soon back in the match with a great goal from Littlewood before Tobias scored the winner with a curling shot which rounded off a good team move. Hughes hit a great shot from just insider Seacroft's half producing a wonderful save from the Seacroft Keeper.
Hughes' battling performance won him the man of the match award.
B: Seacroft Colts U7's 2-3 Churwell Lions U7's
Churwell B maintained the winning run in the second keenly contested match. Seacroft scored first despite the efforts of Captain and Goalkeeper Marshall. Churwell equalised before Seacroft scored again. The Lions then stepped up a gear with good runs from Dykes and Marshall before Marshall and Spivey both scored to give the Lions a two goals to three win.
Adam Hassall's tireless defending won him the Man of the Match award.
