Another win for Woodkirk U12s sees them move up to third spot in Division 1 of the Garforth League.
The second home game of the season and Woodkirk kicked off with a positive mind-set, looking to continue their good form from the previous week. Straight away the visitors were under the cosh and had it all on to get the ball out of their own half. Despite being in control Valley were failing to find the net. Both teams were finding it tough going – hindered by a gusty wind and long grass which it hard to play any flowing football. At last the stalemate was broken on 25 minutes, with a superb turn and shot from Hartley.
The second half had Valley playing into the wind and Amaranth started to find themselves with more chances now. Once again the Woodkirk defence were up to the job though and got the challenges in when they were needed.
Woodkirk really needed to put another away – a 1-0 scoreline is always an uneasy situation. Eventually their persistence was rewarded with a second and then a third, both from Hartley to give him his hat-trick.
A valuable three points and another clean sheet. A strong performance from Linfoot earned him man of the match.
