Report by site user Stuart Beckett WRCFA Shield U12s, Sunday 1 October 2006.
The lads of Pudsey Juniors U12s loved the generous hospitality of our hosts Grassington as they tucked into their chip butties at a nearby hostelry after the game. They also enjoyed a fine win in the first round of the under 12s West Riding Shield.
Pudsey played down the slope in the first half and looked like they would need a healthy advantage by half time. Aaron opened the scoring after flick on from Matt B from a corner. Grassington equalised soon after when their big striker beat keeper Brad with a great shot when Pudsey failed to clear their lines. Matt B sent Pudsey into the break with a lead though when he intercepted the keepers throw and finished expertly.
Pudsey played some great stuff in the second half with their defence well marshalled by Jonathan and Lewis. Nyle also had a great game at right back. Pudsey got their third when Tom deftly chipped the keeper and then Matt B put the tie beyond Grassington with a run from the wing and a shot into the corner.
The whole team played well with Alfie, Aaron and James' Con and Cop starring in midfield. Matt B got the man of the match for his brace of goals.
There were some happy faces on the coach back to Pudsey and we contemplated another away-day in the second round perhaps?
