The campsite at Leeds Festival

Happy campers

Last year's festival was a superb three days full of music and entertainment but was marred by the behaviour of a few festival goers and the unacceptable behaviour of a handful of security on site.

Following this, the Mean Fiddler held forums with festival goers and many changes and improvements have been made including a new security company on site following those discussions.

Staff on site

The campsites this year will have staff whose job is to make the event the best it can be possibly be for you. Look out for the people in tabards in your camp area who will be able to offer advice and support and answer any questions.

There is also a Welfare Tent in the Village area of the festival site which is manned 24 hours a day.

Crime reduction on site

West Yorkshire Police give the following advice regarding securing valuables: "Car keys, cash, credit cards, mobile phones and other valuable items should be kept with you at all times".

The crime reporting number is 01924 293523, please only call 999 in a genuine emergency. You can also report crimes via Customer Protection / Support Officers in the campsites (wearing white and bottle green tabards).

You can use the left luggage point near the arena entrance to store your belongings.

Campfires and bonfires

Leeds City Council has allowed small campfires on site this year, a request which was noted at the forums. These must be no bigger than flames at knee height and less than one pace wide. If they are bigger they will be put out so keep them to a small size. Please only use clean wood for your fire, there will be a wood stall on site.

Bonfires are not allowed anywhere on site. There are NO FIRES ALLOWED IN THE ARENA.

Gas canisters and aerosols

Throwing gas canisters on fires is both dangerous and anti-social. Anyone seen throwing a gas canister on to a fire will be evicted on the spot.

A gas canister and aerosol exchange will be in operation on site next to the campsite office. Hand in your empties and you will be entered for the chance to win tickets to next year's biggest music festivals.

Anti-social behaviour

Starting bonfires, fires in the arena, throwing missiles, throwing aerosols or gas canisters on fires and throwing objects at staff is unacceptable behaviour and anyone seen to do so will be evicted from the site and be subject to a lifetime ban from all Mean Fiddler and Live Nation festivals, including Glastonbury, Leeds and Reading and Download. Their details will also be passed to the police.
