He was voted Swedish footballer of the year in 1990 and 1994, and came 9th in the FIFA World Player of the Year rankings in 1994. But that was before he signed for Leeds, where he failed to live up to the hype. After leaving Leeds Brolin went back to Parma and then on to Crystal Palace (making only 13 appearances for the club). He retired in 1998 and has since had a number of business ventures including vacuum cleaners, shoes and his own restaurant Undici (which means 11 in Italian, after his Parma shirt number). On the official Leeds United website's 100 Greatest Leeds Players list Tomas Brolin is rock-bottom at number 100. |
