Woodkirk hit Farsley for six Woodkirk U11s held their heads high today, fighting back from a two-goal deficit to come out 6-3 winners. Everything was in place for a good game today - the pitch was in good condition, warm sunshine cut through the fresh morning air and hopes were high. The game kicked off at a frantic pace and Farsley dominated the opening exchanges. Woodkirk were on the back foot and the home side went one up on two minutes as the ball tricked over the line following a corner. Farsley then scored again on five minutes with a good run on goal to beat the defence. At two goals down Woodkirk could have let their heads drop, but not today. After a couple of good chances and a well saved free kick they managed to get one back when Francis set up Moxon, his powerful shot making it into the net despite the keeper getting a hand to it. Minutes later they equalized with a debut goal from Francis. The second half saw the Woodkirk lads playing with newfound confidence - battling for every ball, passing well and making good runs down the wings. Their efforts were soon rewarded with a third when Parry flicked the ball through to Moxon who took the ball round the keeper to finish. Moxon then went on to score two more quality goals before Farsley could reply to make it 5-3. The remainder of the game was a pleasure to watch with the whole team playing some fantastic football and Moxon netting his fifth. Final score 6-3. An enjoyable game played in good spirit by both sides. Valley look forward to playing Horsforth St Margaret's at home next weekend. Woodkirk man of the match was Moxon who put in an outstanding performance. |
