Liam Bags Four as Valley Bounce Back Woodkirk bounced straight back from the disappointing 5-0 defeat in last week's Supplementary Cup Quarter Final with an impressive 5-2 victory away at local rivals Churwell Lions. The game started brightly enough with both teams creating good chances early on but it was Woodkirk who opened the scoring first through Liam. The game was scrappy at times but both teams worked hard throughout the first half with Valley's finishing proving the decisive factor with Liam lethal in front of goal. He completed his hat-trick with two more well taken goals on 15 and 22 minutes. Churwell stuck to their task and pushed on and were rewarded when a well-worked cross from the left was finished in fine style by the Lions striker. The second half saw Valley lift their game as they pushed on up the hill and created several chances with some determined and effective work from Dan on the left. Liam bagged his forth early in the half with another incisive finish from close range. Churwell never let their heads drop and the Valley defence were kept busy by the hard working Lions midfield and attack. Churwell scored a well deserved second goal midway through the half despite an heroic efforts from Josh in the Valley goal. With just five mintes to go a strong run and fine finish from Lewis completed the victory for Woodkirk who are still chasing Pudsey in the league. Next week Woodkirk face Tingley Tigers at home in another local derby match. |
